This is an expansion of #968.]\r\n\r\nI often use Mastodon on Firefox on desktop. I do have a touch-bar on my computer, which allows me to easily use emojis in many places, but Firefox doesn't support it. I was very happy that Mastodon made emojis pop up when you typed \":\", like in Discord. It would be very nice if Elk added this functionality.\r\n\r\nIt would also be really nice if typing \":\" + \"emoji_name\" + \":\" inserted any emoji, not just custom ones - an improvement on Mastodon. I really like how Discord does it.\r\n\r\nIn addition, Elk's emoji selection window, which works well as a workaround for this issue in many cases, does not seem to contain instances' custom emoji.\r\n\r\n### Suggested solution\r\n\r\nAdd instances' custom emojis to the emoji selection pop-up, and make it so that typing (for example) \":heart\" will pull up the heart emoji to be clicked on, AND then typing \"\" with the final \":\" at the end will actually insert the heart emoji.\r\n\r\n### Alternative\r\n\r\nAdd Mastodon's level of functionality - just add instances' custom emojis to the emoji selection pop-up, plus make it so typing (for example) \":heart\" will pull up the heart emoji to be clicked on.\r\n\r\n### Additional context\r\n\r\n_No response_",[2058],{"name":1988,"color":1989},1077,"closed","Emoji functionality","2023-01-13T15:19:32Z","https://github.com/elk-zone/elk/issues/1077",0.6783093,{"description":2066,"labels":2067,"number":2072,"owner":1991,"repository":1992,"state":2060,"title":2073,"updated_at":2074,"url":2075,"score":2076},"Some emojis like the transgender flag emoji do not display right in Elk.
